The claim

On May 24, 2025, Akosua Manu, a former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Youth Authority, made a post on her Facebook page with a flyer bearing the headline "if I resign the government will be at a loss" attributed to Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa. The post garnered 171 reactions, 55 comments and 9 shares within 22 minutes.

What we found

An analyst from Fakenews Ghana contacted YEN (yen.com.gh) directly on Facebook to determine whether the viral flyer shared by Akosua Manu was authored or created by them, to which they responded NO. To confirm further, we searched through the website and social media pages of YEN.com and found that no such flyer had been shared by the online portal.

Why is Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa the center of the fake flyer?

Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa was a stern critic of Nana Akuffo Addo and his travels, especially those that involved the use of private jets. In July 2022, Ablakwa publicly stated on Adom FM's Burning Issues that he would resign if a future NDC administration used a private jet for presidential or vice-presidential travel.

Photos of Vice President Naana Opoku Agyemang have emerged showing her emerging from a private plane after her medical visit to the United Kingdom, reigniting discussions about private jet travels of government officials and resurfacing an old video of the Foreign Affairs minister and his stance on the use of private jets.

Although the Minister has not officially made any comments on the matter, our research has shown that Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa did not say these words "if I resign, the government will fail". Neither has he granted any interview in which he was seen saying the words captured on the viral flyer.

Akosua Manu has since deleted and apologised for her post.

Verdict

The flyer is a digital fabrication. YEN.com confirmed they did not create it, and the quote attributed to the minister cannot be traced to any interview or statement. We rate this claim FALSE.
